SMC rebuts report of water quality issue at Firdousabad, Batmaloo
Individual issue of a household resolved swiftly: Spokesman
SRINAGAR, JANUARY 05: The Srinagar
Municipal Corporation (SMC) has rebutted the reports of water quality issues at
Firdousabad, Batmaloo, brought in notice by some social media platforms.
According to a spokesman of SMC,after
conducting thorough investigation, it was revealed that the drinking water
supplied to Firdousabad is sourced from the 10MGD Sukhnag Water Treatment Plant
(WTP) where it undergoes rigorous purification and chlorination processes to
ensure its safety. Further, water quality is checked through daily laboratory
testing and consumer endpoint sampling, both of which confirm that the water
remains free from contamination.
The spokesman said the concern raised
was traced back to a leakage in a private PPC line to individual household
which was promptly addressed and the line was repaired and replaced to restore
the water supply of appropriate quality.
Following repairs, subsequent water
quality tests have been conducted in the neighborhood which confirmed that the
drinking water is now safe for consumption.
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is
dedicated to providing clean, safe, and reliable drinking water to all residents,
the spokesman said adding the SMC encourages the community to remain vigilant
and report any water quality concerns promptly for swift action and resolution.
