2 Reefer Trucks handed-over to
beneficiaries under HADP at Shopian
DC terms it a great step to provide
logistical support for strengthening agriculture marketing
SHOPIAN, DECEMBER
12: The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Shopian today
organised a distribution function at Aglar Shopian in order to hand over the
keys of 2 Reefer Trucks to beneficiaries of the district under the Holistic
Area Development Programme (HADP).
The Deputy
Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar presided over the
function and handed over the keys of trucks procured by beneficiaries with
substantial financial support of the government.
Each Reefer Truck
has a capacity of 26 MTs, and is a recent intervention in post harvesting
management initiatives capable of transporting fruits and vegetables long
distances with inbuilt controlled atmosphere.
The services of
these CA trucks are increasing in demand for the local Cold Chain Industry for
long distance transport keeping in view they enhance the shelf life and
profitability of the fruit.
Under HADP, the
government provides 75% subsidy on each unit costing 25 lac under the component
‘Strengthening of Agricultural Marketing- Project 4’ for providing logistics
support to the fruit industry.
The DC on the
occasion appreciated the department for the feat and appealed to others,
especially unemployed youth to take the benefits of livelihood and employment
generation schemes for their economic upliftment.
The event was also
attended by AMO, HP&M and DIO Shopian along with other officials of the
department and beneficiaries.
