Director Horticulture launches plantation drive under HADP in Reasi

JAMMU, JULY 21: Director Horticulture Jammu, Chaman Lal Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of Reasi district. During the tour, he launched the plantation drive under the scheme Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in district Reasi by planting sapling of Litchi plant in the field of a farmer namely Bashir Ahmed at village Numain in the presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi Rajinder Lochan, District Horticulture Officer, Horticulture Development Officer & farmers.

During the programme, the Director interacted with the farmers and asked them to adopt the diversification of crops in their fields so that they can earn during the whole year.

He apprised them about the incentives available under various centrally sponsored schemes particularly HADP and other UT sponsored schemes of the department.

He also urged farmers to come forward and avail the benefits on different components viz: Bore Well, Geo-tanks, Drip irrigation, Custom Hiring Centres, etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status.

Further, the Director inspected the Government Fruit Plant Nursery Dagozi Bagh of district Reasi. He instructed the staff to enhance the production of fruit plants especially Citrus plants in the nurseries so that the department may become self -reliant to meet the demand of the fruit plants of the farmers.

Further, the Director chaired a meeting of the District Officers, Horticulture Development Officers, officials and field functionaries of district Reasi.

Threadbare discussion was held about the ways and means, the department could adopt for the betterment of the poor farmers and removal of the bottlenecks in the implementation of departmental schemes especially HADP.

He impressed upon all the officers and officials to expedite the works undertaken for the development of the departmental nurseries.

Earlier, at the outset, Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi, briefed the chair about the progress made under HADP, CAPEX and all other schemes being implemented in the district.
